Game On!

If you know me, really know me. You were confused when you dropped in today... Super Bowl? What gives? (do people say that anymore?) Yes, I'm (I mean, We are) hosting a Super Bowl Party. Super Bowl XLII Party to be exact! As the host of said party it's important to know who's playing... for the purpose of decorating in the appropriate colors that is. So, after a quick Google search and a phone call to hubby I was off to a good start!

I delivered these clever invitations yesterday. The recipients have to blow up the football to read the rest of the party details.

Here's what I've got planned so far...
One football cake. Easy directions found at About.com Cute football cookies. Found at Pillsbury.comMy own homemade chili with all the fixins. And Costco's Hot Wings. Guests are to bring their favorite snack or dessert to add to the "Chow'n" selection.

Everyone will receive their own yellow "foul flag" to throw when a foul has been called incorrectly.

And because I'll need to be entertained during the game I'll have a few challenges set up for the guests...

Best Game Face - Sport's Fan face paint provided. Peers will be the judge.
Furthest Punt - Paper triangle footballs made and then "punted" over dining room table.
Wagering Winner - There has to be a little wagering, right? Best commercial, MVP... I don't have this one nailed down yet.
Prizes will include: Beer Nuts, Slim Jims, and a real tacky plastic football cup.
The kids will make pom poms to help cheer everyone on with.

Sound like fun? If all else fails, I've asked a friend to bring her knitting along so she can give me a lesson. You know, just in case the game is a dud.

Love it or Hate it?

Actually you can't answer that question because you weren't here to advise me otherwise! This is what happens when you still don't have a hair dresser and you see someone in the far off distance in the pick-up line at school that has a really cool haircut and you start to wonder... it didn't take long. I cut it the same evening after the kids went to bed. It needs some fine tuning, but I like it for now. Scott on the other hand...

Bring on the rain!

I have to brag (just a little bit)... My girl Haley designed this delightfully fun Seahorse print featured here on Anthropologie's Rain Coat. They're on sale now, if you can't resist. I'm sure she'd be happy to autograph it for you. Way to go Haley. I can't wait to see what comes out next! (note: you can go directly to Anthropologies site from the link above to see it. i'm not sure why my image is blurry)

Around Town

Celebration Park

Everyone needs a visit to the Stock Yards. Git yur boots on!
The daily cattle drive through town.

Who knew you could put a saddle on one of these. Not to mention a fearless kid!

My own long horns!

Some of our new friends.
Dallas Arboretum. I hear it's spectacular in the spring. (photo courtesy of Chandler - thanks!)

Do you see yourself here?

We've enjoyed our visits from you! If you don't see your face here, then we hope to soon!

Alfresco in January

The weather has been amazingly warm in 2008. We enjoyed eating out (literally) this past weekend. The girls wore sundresses to church and would be wearing shorts to school (like the other kids) if I could just get my head wrapped around the idea. I hope you're enjoying what the new year has brought your way so far.
